Dave Gillis

M.S. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Hi, I’m Dave, nice to meet you!

Let’s be honest—life can be messy. Sometimes you know exactly what’s wrong and just don’t know what to do about it. Other times, you’re not even sure where to start. And sometimes you just need someone to sit down with you and help make sense of the whole thing.

That’s where I come in.

I’m Dave Gillis, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with about 12 years of experience in mental health. I’ve worked with people through some pretty difficult moments, from acute crises and major life changes to anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, substance use, and everything in between.

I work with children starting around age 5 through older adults, as well as individuals, couples, and families. I also have a particular interest in LGBTQ+ concerns, spirituality, relationships, and helping people navigate those moments when life just doesn’t seem to be working the way they hoped it would.

So, What Is Therapy With Me Like?

Probably not what you see in the movies.

I’m pretty laid-back and believe therapy should feel like a place where you can actually be yourself. You don’t have to come in with the perfect explanation of what’s going on, and you definitely don’t need to have all the answers.

Maybe you need someone to listen.

Maybe you need someone to help you get unstuck.

Maybe you need someone to challenge some of the ways you’ve been thinking or behaving.

Or maybe you need someone to say, “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do next.”

I’m comfortable with all of that.

I pull from different approaches—including CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT, EMDR, Client-Centered Therapy, and Existential Therapy—but I don’t believe therapy should be about forcing you into a particular technique. You’re not a diagnosis, and therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all process.

We’ll figure out what works for you.

My goal is to create a space where you can talk openly, laugh when it makes sense, cry when you need to, challenge yourself, and maybe even learn a few things about yourself along the way.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start therapy. You just have to be willing to take the first step.

If you’re ready to make some changes, I’m ready to help you make them happen.

Let’s figure this thing out together.
